Hi All,

Welcome to Something Old, Something New. This month I'll mostly be selling used furniture, electrical appliances and books and maybe some clothes. I am moving to a smaller apartment and/or relocating so everything must go!

There are items that I'll be giving away for free to people who are in dire need of furniture but can't afford it yet.

Watch this space! Pictures to come soon. Also please ignore posts from 2007 as those are posts from my previous relocation (yes, I move a lot)

For Sale - Rattan Chairs.

Two rattan chairs for sale.

They were originally meant to be garden/porch furniture but I decided it would work as indoor furniture in the local heat. They are quite low and nice to put next to bean bags to create a low seating living area. These chairs are also great for re-painting other furniture experimentation.

There are some minor damages on the chairs as shown in the pictures. My dog got to them in his rebellious teenage years and decided rattan chairs make good chewing gum. There are some teeth marks in some parts but can be easily repaired with some minor sanding and a coat of matte wood paint.

For Sale - Philips Energy Saver Bulbs.

I have six Philips energy saver bulbs for sale.

They are 11W but provide the brightness of 60W bulbs. The energy saving properties are amazing. They are even better than using fluorescent light tubes which average at 35W a pop. I managed to slash my electricity bill by half when I used only these bulbs.

Some of these bulbs are used but are well taken care of. Comes boxed.

For Sale - Panasonic Table Fan

This table fan is less than a year old.

Excuse visible dirt on the fan. The fan will be in a clean condition at point of sale.

It is very quiet and reliable. Anyone who has had a Panasonic/National table fan in the past will definitely know how long these babies last.

This provides a strong breeze, unlike cheaper versions from certain hypermarts. I've blown up two hypermart fans in the past 2 years. So trust me, if you want a fan, you'll want this instead.

This, is a table lamp. It is black. Some find it cute. Some find it old skool.

It says, "Please take me home. I don't want to be left behind."

One unit only. Uses flat two pin plug and screw on bulb. Not included.

Vogue (UK) - the better English language Vogue IMHO.

Happy Magazine

A now defunct British version of Lucky. Happy is a magazine for style & shopping picks'. It was a really good mag, much better than its American counterpart.

Dates ranging from October 2005 to January 2007 (their last issue was March 2007).

For Sale - Haier Compact Washing Machine (6kg)

This washing machine is less than a year old. It is very compact, affordable and has not given me any problems throughout my use.

This machine is kept in the 'wet kitchen' area but I don't use the area so it is dry 90% of the time. I clean the exterior and interior often and is in excellent condition.

It takes up to 6kg of laundry according to the manual. I've never personally weighed my laundry but it can take two Queen size bed sheets and a blanket without much problem.

This machine should still be under warranty at the time of sale. I will refer to the receipts and update you.

This machine is by Haier and was bought from HSL Electrical, warranty claims and servicing should not be a problem with them.

Special features:

Very compact body.

Plastic drum - no rusting.

Countdown timer - you will know how long your laundry takes for each wash.

A variety of wash programs - e.g. large/heavy items with soaking, gentle wash, fast wash.

This may fit in a 'people mover' van and comes with handles on the side for easy lifting.

This chair is less than 6 months old and is in good condition.

Below are the specifications for this chair according to the Ikea Singapore website. It's the same chair so its pretty much the same.

This chair provides good comfort and support for those who work long hours at home. I have back problems and am at my desk for up to 10 hours a day. Having this chair helped a lot. It isn't one of those wonder-ergonomic chairs but it is as luxurious as a student's budget can afford.

The padding on this chair is quite resilient. Unlike the RM35 ones from certain hypermarts, this chair does not go flat after a week.

It can be dismantled easily and comes with the instruction booklet.

This retails at RM299 or so at the Ikea store.

My price: RM100.

So you can now have a decent chair too!

For Sale - Ikea Standing Lamp (White)

This item is pretty much self explanatory.

It is a standing lamp.

It is less than 6 months old and has been well taken care of.

The bulb socket is a screw on variety and fits standard bulbs. I only have one of this. And as all Ikea items, this one can be dismantled and loaded into the back of your car, easy.

For sale: Ikea folding tables.

I have two of these folding tables. They are less than a year old and have only gone through light use.

They are relatively sturdy and the folding legs won't collapse easily because of a metal bar underneath to keep them secured. These tables are different from the earlier Ikea folding tables that would collapse if someone brushed against it.

I currently use these as my coffee table and bedside table.

Selling price: RM 8.00 per table.
